The integration of Black Ops 6 into Warzone is frustrating: a YouTuber uncovers serious technical glitches and explains why the Battle Royale is worse than it was with MW3.
The integration of Black Ops 6 into Call of Duty Warzone should actually be a big step forward, but for many players it feels like two steps back.
The YouTuber TheTacticalBrit has therefore conducted extensive tests and brought to light numerous issues that massively affect the gaming experience. From chaotic sound design to performance issues, the new version of Warzone is currently struggling with numerous technical challenges.
Why does CoD Warzone suddenly feel so broken?
According to TheTacticalBrit, the main problem lies in the technical basis.
Black Ops 6 uses an older engine than Modern Warfare 3, which means that many improvements have simply been lost. The audio system is a particularly striking example of this.
While Modern Warfare 3 solves the problem of overly loud own and team noise with clever audio prioritization, this feature is completely missing in the new Warzone.
In concrete terms, this means: You can hear your own footsteps, parachutes, and teammates so loudly that important sounds such as enemy movements or distant gunfire are completely lost.
Another problem concerns the range of killstreaks. According to TheTacticalBrit (and many comments under his video), you can now hear air strikes at the other end of the map.
Performance is also a major issue. Players are reporting drastic frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs.
In his tests, TheTacticalBrit found that the rendering distance of details
was turned up to the max regardless of the graphics settings you chose, with no regard for performance. And that naturally impacts performance.
But it’s not just performance that causes problems; the consistency of time to kill also seems to be flawed. Weapons behave differently in similar situations – a headshot with the same weapon can be fatal one moment and cause little damage the next.
A small ray of hope
Despite the numerous problems, there are also positive aspects: TheTacticalBrit praises, among other things, the revised loot system. Tedious inventory management is a thing of the past, and looting is now significantly faster. The
is also praised – for the YouTuber, the new movement system is phenomenal
and he doesn’t want to play Warzone without it anymore.
According to TheTacticalBrit, many of the listed bugs could have been avoided if the various development teams had worked together better and consistently adopted proven solutions – similar to how the Battlefield series has solved it with its Battlefield Central Technology
(BCT).
BCT is a central development platform at DICE that centrally manages engine updates, ensuring that all the necessary progress and improvements can be seamlessly transferred from one game to the next.
Perhaps it is time for Call of Duty to take advantage of such a model to avoid similar problems in the future. The fans would surely thank you.
