With the release of Vessel of Hatred on October 8, Season Six of Diablo 4 also kicked off, bringing brand new content to the game. In this overview, we summarize the most important information about the start of Season 6 and the 2.0 update:

Runtime: Start and end of Season 6
- Start:andnbsp;Season 6 started together with the Vessel of Hatred expansion onOctober 8, 2024with some delay.
- End: It is not yet known when exactly Season 6 will end. Usually, seasons run for three months, which is why we assume that the new season will end at the beginning of January 2025.
Season theme: What is Season 6 about?
TheSeason of the Rising Hatred
offers new mechanics again. The focus is on new monsters: the realmwalkers.
- Monstrous walkers: These are gigantic creatures that carry large portals on their backs. The monsters appear at regular intervals in Sanctuary and Nahantu. Defeating a Realmbuster opens its portal, allowing you to enter the Seething Realms.
- Seething Realms: The Seething Realms are new dungeons. You must defeat all the monsters there to reach the Rich Gate and claim your rewards. To do so, you will need to sacrifice materials, and in return you will receive a Seething Opal.
- Seething Opals: These are a new type of elixir that will give you numerous bonuses. There are different opals. Which one you get depends on which materials you sacrifice:
- Simmering Opal of Equipment: 25 Raunende Obolusse
- Simmering Opal of Crafting Materials: 5 Raunende Obolusse
- Simmering Opal of Agony Challenges: 200 Signet Powder
- Sizzling Opal of Gold: 1 Iron Chunk
- Sizzling Opal of Placeable Items: 3 Angel’s Breath

Season 6 is kicking off with the big 2.0 update, which the developers presented in the Campfire stream. We’ll give you a brief summary of the most important changes. You can find a more detailed overview here:
The new level cap
In Season 6, a new maximum level will be introduced. Instead of level 100 as before, you can now only level up to level 60. Levels 1 to 60 remain the so-called character levels, where you receive skill points for each level up. After level 60, you then collect paragon points.
Paragon System and Glyphs
- With patch 2.0, the paragon system in Diablo 4 will also be fundamentally revised. Instead of the previous 200, you will now receive up to 300 paragon points, which should be more significant in the later stages of the game.
- Another new feature is that the Paragon points are realm-bound This means that you unlock the points for all characters on a realm. This makes it much easier to level additional seasonal characters.
- In Season 6, glyphs will be leveled in the Pit, rather than in Nightmare dungeons. Glyphs areupgradeable and can be leveled up to level 100 However, this is based on a random principle that depends on your difficulty level.
New difficulty levels
In addition to the four existing difficulty levels, there are now four further ‘Torment’ levels, which allow you to adjust the difficulty even more precisely to your strength. These are based on the levels of the Foreman’s Pit. The ‘Normal’ level corresponds to level 5 in the pit. As you complete higher and higher Pit levels, you will also unlock the new Agony levels:
- Normal: Available from level 1
- Hard: Available from level 1
- Expert: Available at level 1 once you have played through the main story
- Penitent: Available at level 1 once you have played through the main story
- Agony 1: Once you have completed the level 20 pit
- Agony 2: Once you have completed the level 35 pit
- Torment 3: Once you have completed the level 50 dungeon
- Torment 4: Once you have completed the level 65 dungeon
The adjustment is designed to simplify your progression, as the new difficulties also affect Nightmare dungeons and other instanced content, which now scale with your difficulty through “smart keys.” These smart keys are access items that allow you to enter instanced environments.
Vessel of Hatred: What’s in the new expansion?
The season launch also saw the release of the major expansion, Vessel of Hatred, which contains a wealth of new content. So you’ll need to have purchased the expansion to access the content below. Runes and Rune Words
Vessel of Hatred is bringing runes back to Sanctuary. You can use them to create powerful effectsand give each class magical abilities, for example.
To do this, you must combine two different rune types. The Runes of Ritual determine the condition, such as drinking a potion; and the Runes of Invocation determine the effect, such as an earthquake.
New Class: Spiritborn
The Spiritborn hails from the depths of the jungles of Nahantu and combines fast attacks with elemental magic They wield long melee weapons such as glaives, battle staves and other polearms. In addition to nimble close-quarter combat, they can summon four spirit guardians:
- Centipede: Poison your enemies and inflict debuffs
- Eagle: Control lightning and rain quick attacks down on your foes
- Gorilla: The tank among the ghosts, with high resistance and physical strength
- Jaguar: Deals high damage with fire attacks and combos
New area: Nahantu
Nahantu is home to the Spiritborn and is also known as Torajan. In the new area, you will mostly be surrounded by dense jungle and dangerous plants and animals
The entire area is divided into six regions, four of which are located in the jungle and two of which are thematically oriented towards canyons. You can expect ruins, dungeons and new cities, as well as various native tribes that don’t always get along so well.
The new mercenary feature
In Vessel of Hatred, you no longer have to face the hellspawn alone. From now on, AI-controlled mercenarieswith their own backstories, personalities, and abilities will help you.
- Raheir: A powerful warrior from Gea Kul
- Varyana: A slaughterer who used to indulge in cannibalism
- Aldkin: A demon child with powerful abilities
- Subo: An archer turned bounty hunter

The Dark Citadel
Last but not least, the Dark Citadel is a new endgame feature, where you explore dungeons and fight bosses together with other players. However, you don’t start together, but have to find your individual path. With a new marking system, you have to communicate non-verbally with your team.
