22 minutes of gameplay should actually be good news. But fans are mainly discussing the new design of the Qunari

Dragon Age: The Veilguardshows a new mission in which the aim is to rescue griffins. You can see dialog, several rooms from the player fortress (the Lighthouse), battles and more – but all of this is rather secondary if you look at the thousands of comments on IGNs video.

The fans are massively bothered by one design decision:The Qunari shown looks strange to many.

New look is not well received

Here you can first see the face of the controversial Qunari figure:

In the comments, many people complain that the face looks too soft and human, that the large bulge in the forehead doesn”t match the rest and that the typical skin folds are completely missingUnrepentant Solas-Kisserwrites under the X-Post:

I”m glad I”m not planning on a Qunari rook because I couldn”t get over the way too human face. Looks like he and Iron Bull aren”t even the same species, I can”t explain it precisely, but it”s massively distracting.

Iron Bull is the Qunari companion from Inquisition, here for comparison:

AtYouTubethe criticism becomes even clearer, for example ruandeswardt6106 writes:

The Qunari looks like someone planned a Qunari cosplay and then decided on Megamind the next minute.

Is the excitement justified?

Taste is a very debatable subject, but in the end everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You”re welcome to tell us yours in the poll below, but first we”ll give you a little context on the matter

The design of the Qunari has changed massively with every game so far.Sten from Origins didn”t even have horns, in part 2 they looked clearly inhuman and furrowed, in Inquisition they wore horns, but had slightly more human-like features again. Iron Bull”s strange physique was often criticized for this at the time, with his extremely broad shoulders he sometimes blocked doors. Here are some examples of Qunari from all the games:

Veilguard is supposed to have the most extensive character editor in the series so far, so it is quite possible that you will be able to create Qunari that look more like their predecessors. However, the faces shown so far all look rather smooth and human.

If you don”t want to spoil the quest surprise, just read one of the articles linked above instead to prepare for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It”s not too much longer until the release on October 31, 2024 – before then, a lot of new information will be released, which we will of course share with you immediately.
