Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth reveals the system requirements for the PC port, which will be released in about a month.
On the night of December 12-13, 2024, the Game Awards took place. In addition to honoring the best games of the year, as usual, there were also numerous release announcements that await you in the coming months.
Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth made an appearance on both counts:
- The Rebirth soundtrack, composed by Mitsuto Suzuki and Masashi Hamauzu, won the award for “Best Game Soundtrack 2024”.
- At the same time, it was announced that Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth would be ported to PC, as was the case with the first part of the remake trilogy. The release is scheduled for January 23, 2025.
With just over a month to go before release, Square Enix is already providing important information for PC gamers. The Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth system requirements are listed on the official website and are as follows.
FF 7: Rebirth – PC system requirements
“Minimum” – 1080p @ 30 FPS (Graphics Quality “Low”)
- CPU: Intel Core i3-8100 / AMD Ryzen 5 1400
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 6600 / Intel Arc A580
- Storage: 155 GByte SSD capacity
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit or newer
»Recommended« – 1080p @ 60 FPS (»Medium« graphics quality)
- Intel CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 / Core i5-10400
- AMD CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Ryzen 5 5600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
- Storage: 155 GByte SSD
- Operating system: Windows 11 64-bit or newer
“Ultra” – 2160p @ 60 FPS (graphics quality “High”)
- Intel CPU: Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- Memory: 16 GByte RAM
- GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
- Storage: 155 GB SSD
- Operating system: Windows 11 64-bit or newer
As is now common with many games, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth also requires an SSD. At 155 GB, the required capacity is not exactly small either.
It is also noticeable that Square Enix doesn’t completely drop Windows 10, but the operating system is only listed in the minimum requirements.
Both the “Recommended” and “Ultra” specifications only list Windows 11 as the operating system – probably also because Microsoft has already repeatedly announced the end of support of Windows 10 for October 14, 2025.
What is exciting in the context of graphics cards is the note that can be found under each configuration. If you want to play Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth in 4K resolution, a GPU with 12 GB of video memory is required. In the Ultra configuration, a minimum of 16 GB is required.
At least on Reddit, a discussion about increased VRAM requirements is flaring up again in view of this.
As with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the performance of FF7: Rebirth could simply “depend on the size of the video memory,” some worry, which would be a bad sign for GPUs with eight GB of VRAM (or even less).

Since the PC port relies on the Unreal Engine 4, anything is possible in terms of optimization – from poor performance like in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor to the polished impression of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
- At the very least, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth should do better than the previous PC port, which was criticized by Digital Foundry as a “disappointing port”.
- It is questionable, however, whether upscaling is included in the above requirements. At least there is no indication of this on the official website, but there is a note that Nvidia DLSS can be added. VRR is also reported as supported – but the website is silent on AMD FSR or Intel XeSS.
