The Trivela is back and lets you click your tongue after scoring a goal. We’ll show you step by step how to pull off this shooting technique.

Flick the ball into the net from 20 meters out? Or skillfully chip it past the keeper and into the top corner from 30 meters? It sounds wonderful and, in EA FC 25, the Trivela makes it easy.

The outside of the foot shot was already a guaranteed goal in previous FIFA titles. And with the latest title, you will score more goals with this special shooting technique. Because that’s not a given, we’ll tell you what you need to do in this guide.

You have to set this option

To score with a strong outside shot, you need the right technique and the right attitude. And we don’t just mean your mindset. In fact, before you get started, you have to go to Options and set Shooting assistancetoWith help

The other possible options would be Precision or Manual and are not very helpful for the Trivela. On the contrary, you are more likely to have difficulties executing the shot satisfactorily.

Shooting technique explained step by step

Once you’ve finished making settings, it’s time to practise. We recommend practising the trivela again and again in training to try out the shooting technique at your leisure. You should note the following points:

  1. The correct position: The trivela can only be performed with the dominant foot. Your player with the ball should not run towards the goal in a central position. Instead, it’s better to position the player slightly to the right (right-footed player) or slightly to the left (left-footed player) in front of the penalty area.
  2. Angle: When shooting, the player should be running towards the goal at an angle of about 45 degrees and have the ball on their strong foot.
  3. Finish: If you are in a promising position and have the ball on the right foot, hold down the LT/L2 button on your controller. Now you just have to charge the shot.

To make the shot even more effective, you can prepare for it to a certain extent. To do this, use a short flick of the right stick to lay the ball up for yourself – but this requires a lot of space and even more practice.

Incidentally, you can’t perform the trivela with every player: your footballer needs a skill rating of at least two stars to do it. It works even better if he has the trivela or even trivela+ play style. With the latter, he shoots an almost unstoppable banana shot that curves beautifully into the top corner – provided your timing is right.
