With the start of Season 1 in Black Ops 6, the 2XP tokens accumulated by players in previous CoDs also returned – only to be locked again a short time later.

At the start of Season 1 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, many players could hardly believe their luck. The 2XP tokens for rank, weapons and battle pass accumulated in predecessors like Modern Warfare 3 were suddenly available in the latest CoD as well, promising to speed up game progress.

However, the joy was short-lived because with a hotfix, the tokens were deactivated again, which was not particularly well received by the community.

Developer Treyarch has since issued an official statement and announced a solution to the problem. Temporarily, there is also an official workaround that allows you to continue to have access to your tokens in Black Ops 6.

A bug is to blame

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, from Treyarch, it is officially stated that a UI bug had erroneously allowed players to activate their 2XP tokens in Black Ops 6.

However, this is said to have led to “potential risks to the stability of the game”, which is why the tokens were deactivated again.

Treyarch, however, assures that they understand how important it is for the community to be able to use their old tokens in Black Ops 6 and also Warzone. That is why the studio is currently testing how the tokens can be implemented into the game without errors.

A future patch should fix the problem, but there is no exact release date yet. However, the X post ends with the announcement that further details will be revealed this week.

Official workaround

Treyarch also reveals how players can continue to use their 2XP tokens in Black Ops 6. The limited-time experience boosters can still be activated in Warzone

So you have to start Warzone, activate your tokens and then switch to multiplayer or zombie mode to get double experience points there as well. This means you lose a little time, but at least you can use the tokens until Treyarch has fixed the problem.
