Square Enix is bringing Life is Strange: Double Exposureto the Nintendo Switch eShop as a digital version today, November 19, 2024. Life is Strange: Double Exposure puts players in the shoes of the popular character Max Caulfield. The high school student has since become a photographer living and working at Caledon University. Years after she first used her supernatural abilities, she is forced to use them again after a tragic event. Because her friend Safi is unexpectedly murdered. The investigating authorities speak of an “impossible murder”.

When Max tries to use her long-suppressed abilities again, she discovers a new ability. Instead of turning back time for a moment, she is now able to enter an alternative timeline in which Safi is still alive. She tries to track down the murderer – or murderer – before the person can strike again.

The debate behind Double Exposure

The latest installment in the Life is Strange series was met with mixed feelings by the community. Many criticized the narrative, which is why even the original series creator Don’tNod had weighed in. He took a clear position on the side of the current development team Deck Nine and explained that hate is not a form of constructive criticism.

These mixed reviews are also reflected on Metacritic and Steam On Metacritic, the title achieves the best reviews on PC with 76 out of 100 points from the trade press. The user score is only 4 out of 10 points. The situation is similarly dramatic on Steam. Here, only 68% of the more than 3,300 reviews recommend the title.

Perhaps Life is Strange: Double Exposureis better received by the Switch community. The coming days will show.
